As Christian parents of teens at GMSS, we can support each other in our 'work' as parents and trust God to direct our way towards effective parenting.

School's Mission

their skills and intellect and the love for learning
to enable them to serve worthy purposes in society'

We desire God's help in accomplishing the mission. While the school is actively pursuing it through programmes, we as parents can come alongside to support in different ways too. Let us unite and involve God in accomplishing the mission.

HOW?
Partnership Through Prayer (PTP) is an arm of the Parent Support Group @GMSS specially mobilized to unite in prayer for the school's mission.
* Be a prayer warrior! Prayer focus for each week is updated through this blog.
You can then pray individually OR in groups (together with spouse and fellow GM parents wherever you are) .
Feel free to click on comment button to share your prayer need or comments with us.
* Join a group. We meet every 1st and 3rd Monday of each month inside Room 1 of the Chapel office from 1.00 pm to 2.00 pm . If you are available, do join us.

TERM2 Week 5 (16/52) 16/4

School
* Pray that God will grant staff and teachers discernment.
* Ask God to bless our teachers with special ability to do a good job.

Student
* Teach my child the secret of being content in every situation. Phil. 4:12-13
* Help them to make every effort to do what leads to peace Rom 14:19

Self
* Pray that we will know His love and presence.
* Pray that our hearts will be open to God's desire for us and our children.

Term 2 Week 6 (17/52) 23/4

School
* Pray for special empowerment of strength and endurance.
* Pray for a special refreshing from the Spirit to be a blessing to the students.

Student
* Help them to love justice and act justly.Micah 6:8
* Pray that they will perservere in all they do and help them run the race set before them. Heb.12:1

Self
* Ask God to make you to be a channel of blessing to our children.
* Pray for strength to be a godly influence.

Term 2 Week 7 (18/52) 30/4

Students
Pray that they will be people of strong character-reliable, diligent, compassionate, respectful, wise, thankful and humble.
Pray for a stronger sense of motivation as they gear up for the mid-year exams.

Staff
Pray for special empowerment of strength and endurance.
Pray for a special refreshing from the Spirit to be a blessing to the students.

Self
Pray that we will honor God in all we do.
Pray for patience to help our them sail through their turbulent teen.

Term 2 Week 8 (19/52) 7/5

Students
Help them to show proper respect to people they come in contact with each day.1 Pet. 2:17
Help them to be strong and courageous in their action and character. Deut. 31:6

Staff
Pray for grace to guide the students to trust God.
Ask God to protect them with His covering so that they can be a shining light.

Self
Pray that we will be one with Him in purpose, joy, righteous living and mission Jn. 17:21
Pray that we will behold God's glory. See His mercy, forgiveness, truth, kindness, faithfulness, love and justice.

Term 2 Week 9 (20/52) 14/5

Staff
Pray for God's encouragements for their faithful toil.
Trust God to make a lasting impact in the lives of the students they taught this year.

Students
Strengthen them with power so that they may have great endurance and patience. Gal 5:22-23
May integrity and uprightness protect them as they hope in you. Ps. 25:21

Self
As we spend time with God that He may still our hearts and refresh our mind.

Term 2 Week 10 (21/52) -21//5

Staff
Pray for strength to serve with integrity to the glory of God.
Pray for a refreshing spirit upon all who labor to fufill God's purpose.

Students
Pray for good time management during the school break.
Pray for meaningful family time during this school holidays.

Self
Patience as parents as we spend more time with the kids.
Creativity in planning family time that is fun for all.

School
*Ask God to grant the school favor with the parents and enjoy trust, support and cooperation so as to achieve the school's mission.
*PSG Student Welfare Day @24/9 to be a meaningful experience for the students and parent volunteers

Students
*Pray that God will give them wisdom and spiritual understanding.
Col1:9 For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding.
*Pray that God will remove the way of lying from them. Empowered to speak the truth, love the truth and walk the truth.
Eph. 4:25 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

Self
*Pray that we would have His joy.
Jn 17:13 I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them.
*Pray that we would be kept from evil and overcome our adversaries.
Jn 17:15 My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one.

A small group of parents had been meeting, twice a month, to pray for the school, students and self as parents. It had been a joy as we fellowship in prayer and see God answered many of our concerns. We would like to give you ( parent, staff or student) this opportunity to share your specific concerns with us via email so that we can pray specifically for you!

7 Practical things you can do to win your teen's heart

1. Give them regulated independence - conditional freedom and planned disciplinary measures.
2. Set a standard and example in your own personal growth areas, set standards that are flexible and inflexible.
3. Be a friend to them - share your dreams and let them share theirs too. Make yourself available.
4. Be openly affectionate towards your spouse. Plan family holiday time together.
5. Pray consistently for your teens. Joint prayer times are powerful moments of bonding, claim their young lives for Christ.
6.Never break relationship no matter what your teens have done. Be ready to nurse their broken wings or else they will never fly.
7. Be generously proud of your teens. Look for the good and compliment and affirm them openly, verbally and reward them generously.

7 Important things your teen wants you to know

1. Please do not compare me with somebody else!
2. I am not trying to hurt you on purpose - maybe just trying to get more of your attention.
3. Instead of nagging, can you take time to reason and explain the consequences of my actions and decisions?
4. I am struggling with my physical, spiritual and emotional changes. Please bear with me as I try to figure out who and what I really am.
5. I do need my own space, friends, music and hobbies - but I also need you to be around, too.
6. Do not embarrass or make fun of me on purpose infront of relatives or other people - but go ahead and correct me in the privacy of our home.
7. Please be yourself - at home, office, church, social functions - your inconsistent lifestyle really confuses me at times!
